About Ula Krzanowska

Ula is a trained architect and – like so many hoof professionals – came to hoof trimming through hoof problems with her own horse. She initially acquired most of her knowledge herself or learned it from her farrier friend. However, as an inquisitive person, Ula deals with a wide variety of hoof topics in great depth, takes every opportunity to exchange ideas with other experts, carries out field trials herself and is now also a sought-after speaker at various farriery conferences worldwide.

Ula is known on social media as “The Hoof Architect” and regularly posts not only extensive case studies, but also detailed thoughts on hoof health and treatment. Ula’s accounts are mainly in Polish and partly in English, but thanks to her unique sketches and automatic translations, the posts are still very easy to understand and very interesting:

What to expect at the clinic with Ula Krzanowska, aka „The Hoof Architect“

Ula combines her knowledge of statics and dynamics from the world of architecture with modern hoof care. How are hooves loaded when standing and moving and how does this load affect the torsion and growth of the hooves? How do limb positions influence the hooves? Should crooked hooves be worked on to become straight again – or is it better to keep them crooked? What influence do fasciae and the rest of the horse’s body have on the horse’s foundation (and vice versa)?

These questions and many other topics are first explained by Ula theoretically with sketches and examples. Hoof pathologies are – as far as possible – analyzed with the horses on site.

In the afternoon, we will go even deeper into the practical side of things: Ula will demonstrate her approach to hoof trimming both on cadaver hooves and on live horses on site. In addition, a very small group of participants (max. 5 people) will also have the opportunity to work on cadaver hooves under Ula’s guidance (the remaining participants will attend this part of the seminar as spectators). If you would like to take advantage of this unique opportunity, please select the “active participant” option when registering.

Whom the clinic is for

The clinic is aimed at hoofcare providers and all horse professionals who deal with the natural crookedness, limb conformation and general biomechanics of the horse on a daily basis.

Moreover, the course day with Ula is also suitable for all interested horse owners who would like to have a better understanding of the interrelationships in the horse’s body and the interaction between different professions (hoof trimmers, equine dentists, physiotherapists, trainers, etc.).

The clinic takes place immediately after the seminar “Holistic Horse Health with Tomas Teskey” and is an ideal complement to it. The weekend with Tomas explains the necessary basic understanding of hooves, teeth, husbandry and feeding. There is therefore a discount for participation in both seminars – the discount will be deducted automatically in the ticket shop!

Course language

The seminar is held in English. Ula uses easy-to-understand language and speaks at a comfortable pace. There is also a handout with translations of the most important technical terms. In addition, the course is very practice-oriented, which makes it easy to follow the content even if you don’t speak English perfectly.

Of course discussions between the participants can take place in any language.

Included in the course price

The registration for the clinic includes a vegetarian lunch, snacks and coffee on the days of participation.
Other meals and accommodation must be organized by the participants themselves.
